In this article, I’ve included advice on what to wear in Cancun as well as packing essentials, items to leave at home, and frequently asked questions for your convenience.
What to Pack for Cancún
1.Water Bottle
When traveling anywhere in Mexico, it’s crucial to be cautious about the water you drink. In Cancun’s tourist areas, it’s not too difficult to find water that is safe to drink, but drinking water outside of these areas can be risky. The bottle is as simple to use as a typical water bottle and filters water through layers that eliminate bacteria and other microbes as well as any other contaminants.
2.Cooling Towel
Pink and blue cooling towelCancun can get hot, but you can find relief with a cooling towel even if you can’t change the weather. Find immediate support and cool down with this in your backpack whether you’re hiking, shopping, sunbathing, or just feeling a little overheated. You can easily cool down and spend more time outside with this towel if you’re feeling hot and sweaty, which can make you feel drained and lethargic. I would definitely take this towel with me if I could go back in time and relive my time in Cancun.
3.Universal Waterproof Phone Case
This “one-size-fits-all” phone case is waterproof, dust-proof, shock-resistant, and all-around awesome. The low cost makes it a no-brainer. It shields your phone from sand and water damage while still enabling you to use the touchscreen and camera to take that selfie in the shorebreakers.
4.Neck Wallet
hero neck walletWhen traveling internationally we like to keep our valuables such as credit cards, passports, phone, cash and plane tickets securely stored in a neck wallet. Due to your excellent planning, you won’t make a pickpocket’s easy target and will be well-prepared at customs. To stop e-thieves from remotely stealing your credit card information, this one is made of RFID-blocking material. Your passport will never again be lost!
5.Activated Charcoal
One of the coolest travel-related products I’ve found is activated charcoal. It’s a secure and reliable way to get rid of any toxins that might be to blame for your traveler’s diarrhea or stomach ache (which, regrettably, is a very frequent occurrence in Mexico). However, these tiny pills can quickly restore normal digestion, allowing you to resume enjoying your trip!
6.Travel Insurance for Mexico
Travel insurance for MexicoEmergencies can happen at any time, so having a plan in place can make dealing with situations like medical issues, theft, property damage, or even evacuations easier and cost-free. Plans for travel insurance are typically very inexpensive. We use TravelInsurance.com to compare the top plans from a wide range of suppliers in one location.
7.HERO Packing Cubes
These luggage organizers, called HERO packing cubes, are a brilliant idea. They transport a disorganized suitcase to packing heaven. Just group all of your shorts, shirts, etc. in one cube. and then you’ll stay organized for the duration of your trip. On the back, there is even an index card for you to write down exactly what is inside. You won’t leave home without them after trying these cubes once!
8.Lipstick-Sized Portable Charger
Lipstick-Sized ChargerIn Cancun, you’ll spend the majority of each day on the move, but you can’t count on your electronics to stay charged that long if you’re going to be using them to look up directions and take pictures. You won’t need to be concerned about being cut off from your travel companions or other information because this portable charger will make sure you can recharge your devices while you’re on the go! The majority of charging cables will fit because it uses a standard USB port.
9.Luggage Locks
Throughout your trip to Cancun, luggage locks will come in very handy. First and foremost, you should use them to lock your checked bags (I’ve previously had items stolen from checked luggage). It’s a good idea to lock your luggage when you get to your hotel so that it stays secure while they clean your room. In order to avoid carrying your belongings around all day, it is also convenient to have a lock for any lockers at tourist attractions or water parks.
10.Virtual Private Network (VPN)
A virtual private network (VPN) is a great tool for achieving two very important objectives. You will be able to use the available internet without being subject to any country-specific censorship or blocks in the beginning. You can use wifi without worrying about being hacked, which is the second (and probably most significant) benefit. In order to stop cybercriminals from stealing your personal information, it does this by adding an additional layer of encryption to your data. You don’t want to find out the hard way how it feels to have someone in a foreign country steal your credit card information, I assure you! What I highly suggest is NordVPN, which is also well-liked by a lot of other seasoned travelers.
11.Quick-Dry Travel Towel
HERO Travel Towel – BlueOur travel towel is all you need if you like to travel, enjoy life, and soak up some sun. If you’re in a hurry or just want to relax and sunbathe at the beach, this ultra-absorbent microfiber towel is perfect. When you’re done, simply hang it up and observe how quickly it dries before rolling it up to be reused.
12.Reef-Safe Sunscreen
Use an ocean-safe sunscreen given the opportunities for snorkeling and other ocean-based activities that Cancun provides. This sunscreen and others like it are free of the harmful chemicals found in conventional sunscreens, which have been shown to seriously harm aquatic ecosystems like coral and fish. You’ll need to wear sunscreen in Cancun because they’re still effective at blocking the sun. Bring aloe gel with you as well because, believe me, hardly anyone who travels to Mexico avoids getting sunburned at least once.
13.Windproof Travel Umbrella
Even in the dry season, Cancun gets a surprising amount of rain. If you’re unprepared, these tropical downpours frequently come out of nowhere and will drench you to the core. This is particularly crucial if you intend to engage in outdoor activities because you don’t want to be caught off guard. This one has a sizable canopy and weighs just under a pound. It is also windproof.
14.Mosquito Repellent Bracelets
Bracelets to repel mosquitoesMosquitoes will be a problem in some areas of Cancun and the surrounding areas. Easy mosquito protection is provided by these wristbands. You can stay safe all day long if you just put one on before you go!
15.Natural Hand Sanitizer
In some areas of Cancun and the surrounding areas, mosquitoes will be a problem. The wristbands make it simple to protect against mosquitoes. You can stay safe all day long if you just put one on before you go!
16.Affordable Underwater Camera
On your trip to Mexico, you should seriously consider bringing a waterproof camera like this one. Most of your activities will involve water, so you don’t want to take a chance on breaking your phone or regular digital camera. If you don’t want to invest in a GoPro or a DSLR camera outright, this one is a less expensive option, is lightweight, versatile, and tough so you won’t have to worry about damaging it while adventuring.
17.Leave-in Hair Conditioner
Hair Conditioner for Leave-In UseThe heat and sun in Mexico can be very damaging to your hair. To protect and condition your hair each day, especially if you’ve been in the water, I advise avoiding using hot styling tools and using leave-in conditioner. This spray has a wonderful scent and will revitalize your locks so you don’t have long-term damage when you get home.
18.Mesh Slip on Water Shoes
Both in and out of the water, these water-resistant shoes will keep your feet safe. When you frequently and frequently travel back-to-back between land and water, this is very useful. If at all possible, try to avoid having to bring extra shoes with you.
19.Female Urination Device
Female Urination DeviceWhile this may seem strange to someone who isn’t used to using public restrooms abroad, many of the restrooms you use while traveling will either be subpar in comparison to those at home or may not have a lot of supplies. When it comes to utilizing toilets that you simply don’t want to mess with, the female urination device gives you a lot more flexibility. Additionally, having a supply on hand in case the restroom is inadequate is assured if you pack a pack of travel toilet paper.
20.Swimsuit Cover-Up
You’ll probably spend a lot of time at the beach, which means you’ll wear your swimsuit a lot. When you’re relaxing poolside or by the beach and enjoying a snack or a meal, a simple cover-up will frequently do, so choose a stylish one for the occasion. Plus, feeling particularly attractive while on vacation is always more fun!
21.Sarong
When I travel, I always find my sarong to be useful in a variety of ways. It is available and works well when I need a temporary privacy screen, an airplane blanket, or a pillow case. Obviously, I can also use it as a swimsuit cover-up and a beach blanket if necessary. Bring one, I strongly advise you.
22.Aloe Gel
Aloe GelDeep hydration is required for skin and hair after spending extended periods of time in the sun and on the beach. You can get the necessary after-sun hydration by using aloe vera, which is a great natural remedy. Long after you leave Cancun, keep your sun-kissed skin healthy and radiant.
What’s the Weather Like in Cancun?
In Cancun, the weather stays relatively consistent all year long.
Most of the time, it is hot and muggy. Between October and May tend to be the driest months.
Mexico’s “wet season” has a variety of manifestations across the entire nation. Fortunately for you, Cancun doesn’t typically have a particularly wet season, but it’s important to remember that it can rain more frequently between June and September and that this is also when tropical storms and hurricanes are most likely to strike.
Cancun experiences its hottest weather during the wet season. Expect highs of 90 or more degrees Fahrenheit or 30 degrees Celsius. When the sun sets, the temperature only drops a little.
January and February are the chilly months. This time of year is still unquestionably beach weather, but temperatures are typically in the 70s or 80s (high teens to mid-20s Celcius).
Evening temperatures have been known to reach the 60s, but only in January.
Let’s talk about what to bring to Cancun now that you know what the weather will be like.
